British revolver, in service with the British Commonwealth from 1887 to 1963. It was made on the break-frame design, which allowed fast reloading and firing comparable to revolvers with side-folding cylinder. It was produced since 1870s by Webley & Son Company (called Webley & Scott Co. since 1897). The first Webley Mk I model was adopted in 1887, and the Mk IV became widespread during the Second Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902. In 1915 the Mk VI model was introduced, which became widespread during World War I and became the most famous.
