Fokker DR1 Voss 3D Model
This is a model representing the Fokker Dr1 Triplane in Werner Voss" markings. Voss was a close friend of Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen widely known as the Red Baron.
After shooting down a DH 4 bomber, on the 23rd of September, he went out again but was engaged by six Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5s of 56 Squadrons. Voss fought an epic single-handed dogfight against six british aces shooting holes in every opponent.
He had 48 victories when he fell.
One of the British pilots he fought that day, Captain James McCudden, who would later become the leading English ace of the war, expressed sincere regret at Voss"s death: "His flying was wonderful, his courage magnificent and in my opinion he was the bravest German airman whom it has been my privilege to see fight." Lieutenant Arthur Rhys-Davids, who himself would fall in combat just one month later, had said to McCudden, "If I could only have brought him down alive."
This model comes with a non-rigged pilot and represents the correct earilier "F1" model he flew when he fell in combat. It has no wingtip skids and has the earlier alierons that were on all F1 triplanes.
All control surfaces are set at the correct pivot points.
Comes with non-rigged pilot holding the control column.
Texture is 4096 x 4096 with a separate opacity texture for the louvers on the spandau machineguns.
