DAZ Asset Export
DAZ Asset Export is a dependency-aware packaging tool for DAZ Studio. It collects a selected asset or content folder together with the files it references, then lets you choose the destination, organize the folder structure, repair missing sources, and rewrite DUF/DSF links for the exported package.
WHY IT WAS CREATED
DAZ assets are often spread across several registered libraries, external texture folders, old absolute paths, or shared resources from another product. Copying only the visible DUF file can create missing textures and broken data. Copying an entire content library is slow, oversized, and difficult to reorganize.
DAZ Asset Export makes the export plan visible and editable. You can see the original source file, the target relative path, and the status of every dependency before anything is copied.
MAIN FEATURES
• Native Export Asset command in the DAZ Studio Content Library context menu.
• Works with selected assets, multiple selected assets, or a regular content folder.
• Scans ordinary and gzip-compressed DUF/DSF files.
• Finds dependencies across registered DAZ Studio content directories.
• Shows source paths, export-relative paths, and statuses for every file.
• Creates an optional named subfolder inside the destination, or copies directly into the selected folder.
• Can register the final export folder as a DAZ content directory for the current DAZ Studio session.
• Lets you edit any Export relative path by double-clicking the path cell.
• Provides Apply prefix and Reset paths for consistent package organization.
• Repairs missing or hard-coded references with Locate / replace source.
• Scans dependencies inside a manually located replacement DUF/DSF.
• Rewrites DUF/DSF references to the new exported relative paths.
• Shows outside-content dependencies and ambiguous alternate mappings for manual review.
• Does not delete source files.
HOW TO USE
1. Install the plug-in and script from the included package.
2. Restart DAZ Studio.
3. In Content Library, right-click the asset or folder you want to package.
4. Choose Export Asset.
5. Select a base destination.
6. Enable Create a subfolder inside the selected destination if the export needs its own folder, then enter its name.
7. Review the dependency table, repair missing rows, and edit target paths if needed.
8. Keep reference rewriting enabled for a portable package.
9. Click Export selected and test the result in a fresh DAZ content directory.
BUTTON GUIDE
Select all checks existing dependencies eligible for automatic selection. Ambiguous alternate mappings remain for manual review.
Deselect all clears the export selection.
Invert selection toggles automatically controllable rows while leaving alternate mappings for manual review.
Locate / replace source assigns a local source file to a missing or hard-coded dependency. If the replacement is a DUF/DSF file, its own dependencies are scanned and added.
Show references opens the incoming-reference list for the selected row. The panel is collapsed by default and uses an internal scrollbar.
Apply prefix adds the value from Prefix for checked paths to checked export paths. Use it to place different asset types below one consistent product folder.
Reset paths restores the automatically generated relative paths.
Double-click Export relative path to move one file to a different folder inside the package.
Rewrite DUF/DSF references to the exported relative paths updates links inside exported DSON files. Keep it enabled when you want the package to open from its new location.
Export selected copies the selected files and writes the rewritten DSON files. Original source files remain untouched.
INSTALLATION
Keep the package folder structure intact.
1. Copy plugins/daz_asset_export_plugin.dll to:
\plugins\
2. Copy daz_asset_export.dsa to:
\Scripts\Utilities\
3. Restart DAZ Studio.
4. Right-click an asset or folder in Content Library and choose Export Asset.
The DSA script can also be launched manually from Scripts/Utilities if the compiled plug-in is not installed. Do not rename the included DLL or DSA file.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Missing references remain unchanged unless you assign a replacement source. Alternate mappings are not chosen automatically when the same relative path exists in multiple libraries. Source files are copied, never deleted.
