Canton is a city in the state of Ohio, United States. Located approximately 39 kilometers south of Akron and 97 kilometers south of Cleveland.
The city of Canton was founded in 1805, but until 1822 it had the status of a settlement, after the status of a village, and in 1838 it became a city.
Canton quickly developed into an industrial center due to its position at the crossroads of numerous railway lines. After the number of heavy engineering enterprises in the city decreased, Canton's economy was diversified into the service sector, and, first of all, the financial and educational sectors, healthcare and retail.
