Boeing E-8 Posiedon US Air Force 3D Model
This model is built near to scale based on actual dimensions and is fully textured. These models also have animatable turbines, landing gear, landing gear doors, elevators, rudder, aileron and flaps. Although some of the country paint schemes depicted are not typical as many have yet to be delivered they are approximations based on previous paint schemes for the aircraft type mission and those countries. This model is available in a wide variety of formats.
The Boeing 737-800 was heavily modified and equipped for an airborne early warning system aircraft.
These are intended to replace aging Boeing AWACS aircraft built in the 1960s. They do not have the large rotating dish like the earlier AWACS aircraft but the large pylon and radar compartment above the after part of the fuselage is capable of locating aircraft at 250 mile plus. It is said that three of these can cover the entire continent of Europe.
