Frustrating word filtering in private message system

I get that you don't want scammers sending offsite links to people that can mess them up with malware or personal info theft or whatever, that's fine, but I just had a lot of trouble (and maybe triggered some admin log events/alarms) trying to message a user asking for help with one of my items. Apparently certain words, just plaintext words not URLs or special characters or any punctuation, will cause a message to be reverted. This could probably be a little less cautious/less annoying.

Yes, you are correct. That is done to help protect users. Unfortunately, there can sometimes be innocent behavior that gets caught by the system.
Our system is trained to get better by identifying false-positives. I just cleared the list, and your messages are now marked as innocent behavior. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I like the idea of being overly cautious with small tweaks correcting the issues over time.

Thu, May 08Sure, it's great in principle, but when you run into it in realtime conversation where someone is asking you for help and your messages to them get silently erased five times in a row, it makes you look like an asshole, it was remarkably frustrating

Thu, May 08Completely understand what your saying about frustration. And living through it was obviously annoying. Hopefully it got clarified eventually. Maybe some kind of notification two both parties can get implemented that a protocol was triggered and needs to be addressed. A simple heads up could be helpful.
