How is 3d going on?

There is an AI menace out there, really.
Windows 11 COPILOT in Windows 11.
Never ever do I want to have that AI sh1t on my system.
I need DAZ Studio, zbrush, maybe C4D 10.5, Affinity, also looking foreward to CC5
and wanting to learn Blender (some day) Unreal Engine (some day)
I don't want that fogging COPILOT and I don't want a fogging NPU.
Now, that I made this clear,
What are my future options?

When it comes to a Windows alternative - there is one. However, switching to Linux, for example, is not that easy (if you want to go a little deeper). You should also first check whether all your programs also run under Linux. Here is a Reddit thread on the topic:

Fri, May 09Oh, and I forgot, I have a barely supported Dell Canvas Grapfic Tablet, that has been too much money to dump.
Go old school. Put the software and devices you are comfortable with on your Windows 10 machine and once the security patches end.. unplug it from the internet. It will be less convenient; but, if the industry moves deeper into "AI" features, then based on your statement you will not want those new features on your art computer. So, keep it the way you like it, just unplug it from the internet when those security patches end.. plenty of folks did the same thing when Windows 7 was "sunsetted".

Is it possible to roll back your pc to win 10? I have found a couple ways to stop win 10 doing automatic updates and I intend to do exactly that before October when 10 is discontinued.
You can keep win 10 and even do any future updates manually. Security updates are apparently continuing for some time so having the hassle of doing that yourself is the only trauma. I weighed up the pro's and con's with my new pc. It will stay on win 10 and if necessary when the time comes go offline completely.
Not very helpful when using things like cargo and unreal engine. I will need a cheap and cheerful pc to act as a bridge eventually.

There are other solutions:
1) Keep your PC with Windows 10 and disconnect it from the internet forever. This involves having another PC with the OS of your choice (Windows 11 or Linux) and using a USB stick or external hard drive to transfer packages for Daz, for example.
2) If your PC is powerful enough, upgrade to Windows 11 and use a virtual machine with Windows 10 and your 3D software. Create a shared drive or folder to transfer data.

My newest PC was Bought in 2021
Disabled Automatic updates
It remains air gapped from the internet
except for about 15 seconds every month
for a license check on a few apps
I never installed a single windows update....EVER!!
I perform ALL recreational internet activity on this 2014 Imac with an outdated version of chrome.
If I encounter some vital internet site that my old Imac/chrome wont support
I pop over to my HP all in one running Linux mint and do it there.
or on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone
my set up has nothing to do with any aversion to AI
I just HATE force upgrades as I am am running older versions of Iclone 7/ CC3 and some other apps that I don't want to be broken by windows 11.

I say go Linux route. Install Lutris or Bottles to run the windows software. In this case Daz studio. I have Blender, Daz studio, Krita and Marvelous working just fine on Garuda Linux. I was a Windows gal for years. Daz used to be a chore to get up running just four years back, but since Nvidia released drivers for it's much better.

Try doing a little research before scaremongering.
If you are using a newish laptop then you might have an ARM based CPU in which case you'll have copilot installed.
Desktops still use x86 based CPUs and copilot just doesn't work on those, as a result it wont even get installed on your system.

First off, I'm betting that you can disable the AI crap in Windows 11. Most everybody has Cortana, that stupid search bar on their taskbar, and bloatware still installed on their Windows 10 machines. I got rid of all of that, and have telemetry disabled and blocked on mine. Recently, Microsoft tried to force Copilot on my Windows 10 machine and I put a stop to it.
Linux is a viable option. While I can't vouch for most of your software "needs", I can say that Studio 100% works on Linux, I did so ten years ago in a WINE bottle. Should be a lot easier these days with Lutris. All you really need is something like a compatibility layer. Also, you should ask yourself what you really, truly need. Do you really need C4D? I'd say that only people working for studios actually need it, if the studio depends on it. Same with Zbrush.
Linux is a lot easier than it was even five years ago. And in many ways, is the better option. When I bought my newest laptop, it came with Windows 11. It's a Lenovo 2-in-1, came with an active pen. Well, that active pen wouldn't work in Windows 11. And I have no option to "revert" to Windows 10 and I was sure as hell not going to buy a Windows 10 license. I booted with a Linux Mint live USB stick and behold, the active pen worked. At the time, I did have to run a "special" kernel version because the laptop was brand new, but that was what.... 3 years ago? The price to pay was a previous version of Mint that comes with a newer kernel. I've not upgraded in two cycles now but I'm running kernel 6.8 now. So what if CSP doesn't run natively on it? I could try it with Lutris or something but Krita has more features. Hell, there are pros using Krita so why not? As for Blender, since that program is OS-agnostic, all of my paid addons work no matter where I use Blender. And if Studio runs on Mint, I'm damned sure Marvelous also runs on it. Photoshop runs on it. Steam version of Substance Painter runs on it.
That's why I go with open source whenever I can. It means choices. I've pissed off many people on the internet for saying that over the years but it's true. When you limit yourself to software that only runs on certain OS choices, you limit yourself, and I don't care what the industry says. The industry wants you to give them money.
The very idea is nearly as absurd as the notion of not being able to draw on paper if you're not using a specific pencil. If your OS needs override your software needs, you override it, full stop. If you hold yourself to specific use cases and softwares, be prepared to deal with Microsoft shenanigans that likely can be mitigated if you do enough research and are willing to get under the hood of the OS and "fix" it. Much like I have had to do with various hardware issues while using Linux.
