Website Feature Update: User Blocking
We're always working to make RenderHub a better experience for everyone. Based on your feedback, we've rolled out an expanded "Block User" feature that gives you more control over your own user experience.
-----
Here's what happens now when you block someone:
A blocked user will not be able to:
- Contact you via the message center
- Comment on your gallery items
- Comment on forum threads you started
Additionally, you will not see these items posted by the blocked user:
- Their gallery posts, when you browse the main gallery pages
- Their wallpaper posts, when you browse the wallpaper section
- Their marketplace products, when you browse the general marketplace
You can now block a user directly from:
- Their profile page
- A message in the message center
- Their gallery item pages
- Their marketplace product pages
New "My Block List" page:
- In your main drop-down menu, you will now see a "My Block List" option
- This page shows who you've blocked and gives you the option to unblock someone at any time
Additional Info:
- Blocking is private. Users do not get notified if you block or unblock them.
- This is not an act of censorship. It is an additional level of personalized control over your own experience on the site.

WOW! This is brilliant!!!!!
I just tried it out (in relation to gallery flooding / spamming): works perfectly. But then I quickly unblocked the user because I only give no likes when flooding. For normal output, I like to fire up my Likes confetti cannon - even for former flooders
Thank you for this great new feature

Mon, May 12I'm glad to hear you haven't experienced that so far. At least now you can do something about it if the situation arises.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback!
That's great! I wonder if it's possible to block them to review our products if we blocked them as well. What you guys think?

Mon, May 12That currently isn't part of the blocking feature. But if you ever have an issue with an unwarranted or misleading review, you can always contact Support. That's no problem.
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback!
Please make sure that the feature is two way, one should not be able to block a user and continue commenting or DMing at the blocked person.

Mon, May 12It is one way. Each user controls their own experience. The other user can reciprocate the block if they choose.
Thanks for adding this and thanks for being very on top of the couple of post-release things brought up, what a Monday

Mon, May 12Thanks for your feedback here, and in the other thread.
Users no longer see the button to block themselves, and cannot block admins or Support.

"I think that obscuring, silencing, censoring is like taking away the word, in art you should never censor and the problem of multiple posts was easily solved with a private message and the request not to exaggerate with the images uploaded ... respecting everyone .. I find that exaggerating is always wrong, like everyone I do not like everything I find in the gallery, but I respect all the works, those who made them put in time and effort, the least I can do is respect them ... but there will be many people who will block them and this will not help improve the gallery"

Response:
I think you may be misunderstanding the feature. This is not RenderHub "obscuring, silencing, censoring" anything at all.
The feature simply allows *individual users* to have an additional level of personalized control over *their own experience* on the site.
If a user chooses to block someone, it will have *no effect whatsoever* on how other users see their posts.
The only thing being "silenced" is something an individual user has chosen they don't want to see.

Mon, May 12I didn't misunderstand, it's obvious that whoever blocks does it in a personal way, whether it's one or a hundred makes no difference, the person who blocks censors the blocked person, even if it's a matter between them, this is my opinion, it's not important.

Mon, May 12Why on earth would you think you have a right to make other people see things they don't want to see? Completely baffling mindset. Really turning free speech upside down as a concept.

Mon, May 12You can just ignore what you don't like, is it that difficult? Maybe for you it is..ok I said something bad...you can block me...it will end like thiswith half of the users blocking each other for a discussion or a job they don't like...nice

Mon, May 12@the joker of spades -
"...the person who blocks censors the blocked person..."
Censorship is "the action of preventing part or the whole of a book, movie, work of art, document, or other kind of communication from being seen or made available to the public".
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/censorship
This feature is not that in the slightest bit. Blocking someone does not affect the public in any way.
This feature allows individual users more freedom of choice. It allows each user to decide what they want to see and what they don't. I'm sorry, but I fail to understand how that could possibly be a bad thing.

what is the downside of this? if another user does not want to interact with you, why do you think they should be forced to interact with you? absolutely puzzling mentality

Mon, May 12No one is obliged to do anything, nor to interact, I didn't say anything like that...but honestly I have a lot to do, I've already wasted a lot of time...I don't think you're worth anything else
I haven't yet needed to consider blocking anyone, which is fortunate, but it's encouraging to see that the site remains dynamic and continues to introduce new features. This is wonderful! The blocking feature is particularly valuable, as it allows users to address trolling on their posts independently, without requiring support intervention. This should free up support resources to focus on assisting users rather than moderating, even if just a bit. In addition to the forum post, perhaps the feature could be highlighted on the user's account page or in other unobtrusive areas, such as the "My X" various pages", to encourage its use.

Mon, May 12That's an excellent take on the situation. Rather than requiring staff members to moderate disputes, users can resolve issues on their own with the click of a button.
Your other ideas are great, too! Right now, you can block a user directly from:
- Their profile page
- A message in the message center
- Their gallery item pages
- Their marketplace product pages
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it!

I am very glad this site has a blocking feature as people have recently demonstrated that they will use any post you make as an opportunity to insult and try to discredit you and carry out grudges over debates from previous threads that did not go well for them.

Tue, May 13Agreed! Personally, I only need the new feature against gallery flooding - but not long ago some discussions / threads were pretty off track (to put it kindly). I have nothing against more heated discussions ... but when it comes to stalking or insults, it has nothing to do with an exchange of opinions.
As nice as it is with the blocking feature, I would welcome a simple "HIDE POST FROM" possibility.
I don't see a reason to block someone, who hasn't done anything bad to me, but is just a simple annoying uploader for a while.
Blocking is really hard and only should be used in extreme cases.
