As someone based in the UK, the new legislation is a direct blow to 98% of my artwork.
With that said, how is it going to effect Renderhub?
Some will have the kneejerk reacton of "it wont" But...that being said, any site that allows UK residence to view and/or post is effected. Everything from facebook, bluesky and art sites.
Its very invasive(I mean they are wanting a scan of your face, bank details, etc). So I need to know what is going to happen.
As sorry, I am not giving any site those details.
BTW here is a petition to fight it.

Will be interesting to see if facebook gives UK the same treatment it gave to canada's dumbass demand that they pay for links to news lol. They noped out and decided to just block all news links in canada instead.

Sat, Jul 12Amen! 'Idiotbook' is a parasite that profits off the hard work of real journalists. I go to the good old CBC for real news that matters to me. Social media can take a huge flying leap off a cliff.

Sat, Jul 12The asocial networks spread so much fake news that I deleted all my accounts and I am getting better from day to day
OP might be talking about: https://www.the-independent.com/tech/age-verification-uk-ofcom-online-safety-bill-b2680775.html
We'll see what R-H actually does.. article mentions credit card checks are an option.. that has it's own problems (credit cards are available in some countries and lately CC companies have taken on a morality/parenting role). We will see though.

Fri, Jul 11In plenty of countries I might add, as in, sure you can use yours when you visit, but being a citizen you have no mechanism to obtain one.

Sat, Jul 12That is, indeed, part of the new legislation. Which, I find, a far overreach. I am very much onboard of protecting children. With that said, where are the parents?
My personal site does have a NSFW section. That in order to even view it, you have to register.
That part will close on the 25th till I get clarity on what will happen.
But sites like Renderhub, and other "adult 3d sites"...artists need clarity on.
If a parent is so concerned that lil tommy is going to see adult material, here is a novel thought….protect your child. The job to make sure what your kids are viewing is the parents job, not everyone elses.

rotecting children“ is the ultimate weapon to ban everything, what is considered bad in their crooked onservative“ minds.
In this case it is their attempt to ban any form of erotic art.
Wait, and eventually they will even ban antique statues and paintings as porn.

Sat, Jul 12They have had to cloth statues before in certain countries. I wish that was a joke....But the UK has a really nasty habit of restricting things "adult". It was not too long ago that there was a ban on thing like "female orgasm" or just about any and all BDSM artwork. You can still get in trouble for certain subject matters.

Sat, Jul 12This is not new, just read Molière's Tartuffe (written in 1669) with the famous phrase "hide this breast that I cannot see"

Sat, Jul 12And yet, historically speaking, fashion has bared more breasts than they have hidden. (Everything from Chinese historical fashion baring the breasts, to french fashion leaving the breasts bare...and more)
It may not be new. But society should be beyond censoring what people view. (That does not mean not censoring certain things. I have a very hard zero tolerance on underage imagery)

Mon, Jul 14Once they achieve this control, they will REQUIRE children to view and learn how to partake in all manner of abominations, as is already happening across the former colonies.
