Your Opinions on DAZ and Cinema 4d?
127I still have c4d 10.5 installed on my computer, because that is the software I feel familiar with.
Kind of a shocker, how much c4d evolved since then. It feels like a completely different app entirely.
I considered to go all in on renting the new Cinema 4 D, instead of having free Blender, that absolutely does not make any sense to me.
C4d is supported by the Daz to Cinema 4 d bridge, so it looks like, but the last forum entry is 3 years ago with people complaining that it barely works.
Is it worth it? How easy is the process of converting materials?
Does anyone use C4D together with DAZ Studio?

I've never used Cinema 4D but there's this video here that actually has convinced me to try using the program since this artist also uses Daz to C4D bridge.

One of my favorite 3DX artists, Kendrew Balassa, uses C4D with DAZ assets.

Sat, Mar 14How?
I have the demo for now.
The DAZ to C4D bridge doesn't work with the demo.
Just importing fbx is a desaster. Missing textures and a renderer out of VRAM space.
I considered the latest version as an easier alternetive to Blender, but it is not.
Since my last owned version of C4D 10.5, a lot has changed.
C4D is hardly recognizable to me.
Looks like I can save that money.

Sun, Mar 15I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what his workflow was. It's been a while since I saw anything new from him, so I don't even know if he's still doing CG art. I can say he had a very distinct style, but it also didn't appear to be anything that couldn't be done in DAZ Studio itself, so I'm not sure what advantage using C4D gave him.

Tue, Mar 17Masterstroke, just a thought but as I don't sue C4D myself. But could it be that you are not embedding the textures on export?
Have you heard about our lord and savior of 3d, blender? All jokes aside, it does have an awesome daz to blender plugin, still being actively developed called diffeomorphic. One of the main reason daz still installed on my machine, make my peoples in daz studio, diffeomorphic them over to blender, get render outputs in seconds, compared to like 30 minutes in daz iray with the render plugin I use. Cycles vanilla is also faster, but cycles + turbotools is insane fast for the quality it outputs.

I am a longtime Cinema user (I had R11 for many years until I finally upgraded it to what I have now, R18) but I'll never be able to afford to upgrade it again. I only use it for modeling/UV mapping, making morphs and a little bit of texturing. If I was starting over/whenever I finally move away from R18 I would definitely move to Blender, Blender can do evvvvvvvvvverything now.
