Is it possible to animate a cloth simulated models in blender?
133Hello everyone, I'd like to ask if it's possible to animate a cloth-simulated model, or to create animations using a model that is usually driven by cloth simulation.
For example, how would you animate a scene where a tired man walks to his bed, falls onto it, and the bed reacts (bounces) from the impact? Or a scene where a person sits on a sofa and creates a dent in the cushion?
Do you need to manually time the cloth simulation with the character's animation-for example, animate the character's fall and then start the cloth simulation just before impact-and then choose the correct frame to blend them together? Or is there a feature in Blender that allows you to animate a cloth-simulated model after running the simulation?
I've also seen animations where beds and sofas don't react at all when a character sits or lies down. Is that because it's not possible, or because animating those deformations isn't worth the effort?

I don't use Blender, but I know that with Daz Studio, for someone to leave a mark, you have to use dForce; I did it for my Bed dForce for all Genesis

Mon, Apr 20Ohh okay, I think I get what you mean, thank you. But how did you make that dForce bed? Like, what actually gives a model dForce properties? I’ve tried converting some products I downloaded (that weren’t originally dForce) and couldn’t get them to work(they all exploded) at all.

Tue, Apr 21For dForce, start with something simple:
for example, a plane placed above a cube, then convert the plane to dForce and run the simulation.
That's what I did for my bed, modifying the gravity value so the mattress rises and conforms to Genesis's shape.
The problem with clothing is that the default settings often cause it to explode. Very often, modifying these three parameters is enough:
In the Surface tab:
Bend Stiffness => 0.1
Stretch Stiffness => 0.3
Collision Offset => 0.075
Here are two links to help you understand dForce:

Tue, Apr 28It is common for zippers or buttons to cause clothing to explode during Force simulations.
You add a Smoothing Modifier to the mattress that will collide with the character, and there you go...
If you want to simulate, prioritize beds and especially mattresses with a quadrant mesh, without N-gons or triangles...

Wed, Apr 29And I'd say, if you find one you really like but the mesh is a disaster, export it (OBJ), bring it into Blender, remesh and beautify the faces. Then export it back (also OBJ) to DAZ, copy the materials, and do what V8 recommended.

Wed, Apr 29No edit function yet, sorry for the second post... make sure to clean up the mesh before exporting (non-planar/concave).
