We've mentioned how so many models all look alike. Here's one I just stumbled into that bears a striking resemblance to the fashion model
Alena Savchenko (Tosunyan- Khovrina). She also has an instagram account, https://www.instagram.com/_alena__savchenko/
https://www.renderhub.com/elvaaj/eaj-arumi-for-genesis-8-female
Is it just me or do others see the resemblance?
(I edited this three times and the links still don't work correctly. Folks might have to follow the links manually...ARGH!)

I mean, if she's even a real person and not one of those AI generated Instagram profiles, she has a completely different face (and even a different navel) in every photo from over editing herself with 20 different apps. So which version of her is actually supposed to be the lookalike?

Thu, May 21Alena is absolutely, positively, assuredly a real, live, honest-to-goodness person and fairly long time model. Her career predates AI by several years.
Maybe a little bit. I discovered that the face shaders make more of a difference than the facial features. A young William Shatner was sold on here. I tried doing two things ...
1) I used a regular base and just added the shader
2) I used the Shatner base but used the regular shader
... the regular base with the shaders looked more like Shatner than the Shatner features with the regular shaders.

IMO dangerous stuff. There might be wiggle room for models or renders that are more caricature than portrait; but Daz (or maybe just some vendors) push for photo-realism. I try to stay away from models that are clearly based on a real person.

Thu, May 21I have a few models from some of those authors. I had no clue they modeled them after people. Good to know.
I don't really see an issue with per se, but I think it should be disclosed at a minimum. However, I don't know whether it is lawful, although I must admit I don't know much about laws around the world.

Thu, May 21@bikdingle,
I'm very familiar with that thread. I'm the first to say that ALL of these bear no resemblance to the intended celebrity.
For some reason I find the subject of this post to strongly resemble my much admired Alena. It could be that after collecting hundreds of her images and spending way too much time drooling and fantasizing over her (but not in a creepy way), I can pick up on slight traits that remind me of her.

Thu, May 21The best you can do with a 3D model is get something that "sorta-kinda" looks like the person in question in that it has two eyes, a nose, and a mouth
Particularly if the hair is exact.
But 3D is not "Photo-real" and nobody looks the same way twice without heavy makeup.
That model is close enough with that hair to pick up a resemblance.
After all it has the right number of facial features

Thu, May 21I think you're talking about "3D" as if Daz Studio were the entirety of 3D. XD
Of course 3D can be photorealistic -there are thousands of examples on ArtStation-, in digital sculpting, and render engines. In fact, even Daz Studio can be photorealistic; there are highly detailed models available, especially if you know how to configure the shaders and lighting

Thu, May 21Since we were talking about a model of a person I didn't add my usual disclaimer. 3D engines are photo-real for manufactured objects, but not for organic ones. The problem is to get them photo real for irregular surfaces requires much more resolution than is feasible for desktop computing, it would take too long to render.
People aren't photo real in 3D. I haven't seen any 3D engine capable of it, again on desktop.
And if I'm wrong on that I'd love to see the render.

Fri, May 22Pushi-Ri, those are really outstanding renders but they still look 3D art to me. It might be interesting for Renderhub to have a "contest" so to speak with an assortment of 3D rendered, AI rendered, and Photos to see how many people can sort them out correctly.
Addressing your original post, Bobb. Maybe the nose and lips add to the resemblance from what I can tell. I can't see her pictures full screen because I don't have an account.
The body, not so much. The real model has an ideal distribution, and for those who say we make impossible figures in DAZ, just look at her. We are not even close. The 3D model has the 9.5D implants, and I believe he or she is obsessed with her waist. It looks great, and that is not a critique.
If anything, perhaps he or she took inspiration from her? It feels possible but also a stretch at the same time. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Yes, it has a certain resemblance or "feel," but you have to be a big fan of the model to appreciate or notice that; it's not like it's based exactly on that person.

Thu, May 21I've asked the creator but no reply so far.
I'll bet that it was coincidence and yes, I'm a HUGE fan of Alena...
...but not in a creepy, obsessive way.
....really.

Fri, May 22Argh!....
You aren't reading the thread are you.
I've followed her career for years and have plenty of images of her going back many years, waaaaay before AI when she modelled for a variety of stores and designers.
She is NOT another damned AI generated instagram model.
-------END OF DISCUSSION!!!!

Fri, May 22This is a very common collateral damage that generative AI is leaving behind nowadays - now everything looks like AI to people.
If they see a person like this model, they say it's AI (someone even analyzed her and found she has 'different belly buttons in each shot,' lol). If they see a well-made render, they say it's AI. If they see a professional photo, they say it's AI... Stop the world, I want to get off

Fri, May 22While the model may not be AI, today's go to tools to edit photos are AI. And you probably don't need subcriptions. Likely the same used to get photos already several has AI tools beyonf meme/funny addons. Use a few of those tools and your picture will have a lot of the things people spot in AI generated images.

Fri, May 22I agree.
Just because she's real doesn't mean she isn't dabbling in AI-based tools to manipulate one's perception. There are plenty of models out there that are following this trend. Just because one chooses to cover their eyes and ears doesn't change the reality of the situation. Heck, SunnyRay was the queen of this for years until people caught on and called her out.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Fri, May 22She is the CEO of Faceapp and her waist the real center of the galaxy curving all the straight lines with the shrink tool.
Anyone who watched a show like 'Spitting Image' would agree that the characters were instantly recognisable, even though they were caricatures and made from foam, so I think there's more to making a recognisable face than just a photo. The way a person smiles, or laughs or coughs, aspects of the hairline, the eyebrows, so many things.
