Daz 6 is Unresponsive.
196Open the app takes forever.
Click a property, 12 seconds to respond.
Animate: Missing.
Click to set a shader. Did it work? I can't tell. So I click it 30 times.
Iray Preview? Grinds to a halt, but that's the only way to get the lighting right.
Want to reinstall Daz 4? You can't. It says I already have it, even though I uninstalled when I got 6.
Simulations? 100% explosions. Soft body physics? Nope.
I am going to learn how to draw. It's faster, cheaper, and less aggravating.

I think you can uninstall 4.24 from the DIM which will allow you to reinstall it, but you really should save the installers to that one outside of the DIM
Animate is a plugin, it will not work in 6 until it is updated, see this thread
Unless you have a 5xx NVDIA card I'd stick with 4 a while longer. DAZ 6.0 is still in what programmers call the late beta stage when you find out from the larger user base where the bugs really are. The Beta Testing base is always kind of limited.

I wouldn't argue with either of you. Fortunately I never uninstalled DS4, so I can still use it. The funny thing for me, and I'd just built a new PC with a 5090 among other upgrades, was that the Alpha version of the new DS worked just fine for me, except for the doodads that just won't play nice with the new architecture. But one fine day, I went to see if there was an update to the Alpha and discovered that DS 2025 or DS6 or whatever they're calling it these days was up, so dummy me downloaded it and dumped the Alpha. Big mistake.
Since then I've not been able to so much as load a character in the "new thing". Environments, that I can do oddly enough. But characters, no bueno. What this has caused me to do is, apart from an unfortunate episode where I had to redownload my entire Daz library because some of it was or had defaulted back to my C drive and I have an SSD RAID specifically for my Daz libraries, is to (after much reading and some YT videos) decide to completely redo my 3rd party libraries, and probably eventually edit my main DS library too. I'll have more libraries with fewer things and activate or deactivate them as needed to keep things lean.
The presumption of all of this is that keeping libraries leaner and more limber will keep DS more agile and responsive. Or in my case, able to function at all, hopefully. Time, and a boatload of effort, will tell.

I'm able to use Daz 4, Daz 6 and Daz 6 Public Build simultaneously on my PC without issue. If it weren't for the fact that many script assets I purchased don't work on Daz 6, I'd probably never use Daz 4. Daz 6 works just fine for me.
For reference, I have a 5080 and 96 gb ram.

In DAZ Install Manager, click the gear icon and then go to Advanced Settings. In there, open up the Downloads tab and then click the "..." button on Package Archive. If there's a Zip file for DAZ 4.24 in the archive folder, copy it to another folder so you'll always have it and then manually install a copy of DAZ 4.24 from that zip file (in a directly that's NOT used by DIM).
If you don't have that zip file, then double check what you have installed in DIM: DAZ 4.24 and DAZ 6 should be available as separate installs, unless DAZ/Tafi changed it (though I opened DIM just before typing this reply and still see separate installs).

I have Daz 4 & 6 installed. While 6 seems to load and close out significantly faster, there is zero plugin support for any of the plugins I use (and considering Manfriday makes the bulk of them, I know they will never get updated for Studio 6).
Outside of the plugin issues, Smooth Shaded view is wonky at best. I now have to work in Textured to even tell what is going on because smooth shaded makes everything look white if your main texture is color graded to white. I have also noticed that there are hiccups when it transitions from one camera angle to the next and the viewer has to catch up in Smooth Shaded. It kind of acts like Iray Preview did before in Studio 4 but in smooth shaded... I will be sticking with Studio 4 unfortunately as the loading and closing speeds are not enough to make me switch at the moment.
