Hi,
I have a couple of cool ideas for this contest, but the ideal style for them is NPR. Is that allowed for the contest? Or is photorealism part of the goal?

Nothing in the rules suggests that photorealism should be the goal. All styles are welcome, as long as the entry is a 3D render.

I won't disagree with Foxy 3D (who is a terrific moderator).
But there is a strong bias among 3D artists today towards PBR. Just look at the entries to this contest. Based on past results here, It dominates the judging as well.
Sometimes photorealism can be very striking. But to me, most of the PBR renders tend to look similar, like they were done by the same artist.
I prefer a less realistic, more illustrative look.
