Free browser tool: Normal Map Generator — height map to normal map with live preview
107Hi all — I've been baking a lot of normal maps for game-ready props lately, and I kept opening heavy desktop tools just to convert a quick height map. So I built a small free web tool: Normal Map Generator (https://normalmapbench.com).
It runs entirely in the browser:
• Upload any height map or photo
• Adjust relief strength and detail
• Preview under movable lighting in real time
• Export as PNG
• No signup — everything is processed locally on your device
It's been handy for quick iterations on bake settings before committing to a full Substance or Blender bake. If anyone tries it, I'd love feedback — especially which export options you'd want next (direct tangent-space formats, batch processing, etc.).

This looks like a useful tool for quick normal map tests. Being able to preview the result with movable lighting directly in the browser sounds especially convenient. Batch processing and more export options would definitely be useful for larger workflows. I'll give it a try when I get a chance.
