Ghost City Rebels - Graffiti Contest Entry (CLOSED)

I adore contests, 'cause it's always fun seeing what other people do with the same rules (and there are some amazing pieces!!!). Until now though I've always just lurked, so I figured I'd finally actually enter something.
Admittedly this might've been an odd place to start, since I didn't, like, know anything about graffiti. But still, it's been a good excuse to actually do some art and while I've been at it, I've read up about the street art/graffiti scene in my own area.
Graffiti has always been around, but it's usually toward the more contemporary side of things. I guess 'cause it can often be a form of expression and purpose, especially amongst youth (I say 'youth' like I'm not only 21 myself lol), so I tried to imagine how graffiti would fit into a more future punk aesthetic. I figured that while they might have access to all sorts of techy tagging gadgets, there'd be a good number that preferred sticking with the classic sprays. So I aimed for a futur-ey font and colour palette, and figured they'd enjoy sticking it on old things, rusted things, things from the past. Rather than tired police or landowners chasing them off, the cities of the future might be more dangerous, more viciouspart of the thrill. And these antique spray cans would stick out to them, because who else would use them but, in their eyes, a criminal?
What do u mean we didn't need to submit an artist's statement.
Anyway, best of luck to everyone!!!

Actually, while I'm here, here's some closeups of my, uh, 'graffiti'. It's actually baked into the texture rather than put on in post, and I chucked on a bump map on to make the paint shine better in light.

The stylings definitely need some work, but that's something to experiment on in the future--

"...it's always fun seeing what other people do with the same rules..."
Exactly. That's what I enjoy about the contests, too.
I like the mood you set in your scene, and the backstory is great. Well done!
Thank you for participating in the contest.
