Does anyone know how to correct a PostegreSQL CMS problem?? (CLOSED)

I bought a new computer a month ago (Acer Predator) and, as with many of the newer computers, their C drives are a pittance. Mine happens to have 1TB of space. My Daz Studio Library, which on my older computer that died took up close to 1TB of space and, well, so much for the dramatics.
My library is now located on an external HD (a 3TB drive) and I've upgraded to Studio 4.21. However, whenever I run 4.21 I get an error message telling me the PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be established. One of the tekkies at Daz told me to move the application folder out of the library on the external drive put it into the Daz3d folder on my C drive, which I did.
I have Install Manager, and according to it, this Postgre is installed. I'm tempted to remove and reinstall it through IM, but considering all the grief I've had with the library NOT on the C drive, I don't want to screw things up.
Does anyone know how to handle this?

Ugh, I've run into this a couple of times, which is one of the reasons why I also save my install files to avoid downloading it again and again. I don't know the official way to do it, but what I will do is go ahead and uninstall everything but Postgre SQL and application, then check the directories, install one item, then keep ejecting and reimporting meta and tweaking things until it falls into place. I don't know what clicks, but something eventually does. Best of luck.

Mon, Nov 07, 2022I don't know if Daz dude reminded you of this or not, but you will want to make sure Daz and DIM agree on where your cms data is located. I'm on a desktop, so not letting any part of Daz touch my C drive isn't that hard, and that's where my trouble has been at one point in the past.

Mon, Nov 07, 2022As I've said to many others, why do the Studio people have to make things so difficult?
The initial problem I had was in updating 4.20 to 4.21. That's when they application folder was deposited in the external hard drive. The tekkie at Studio told me to move the application folder to the C drive, which I did. Then 4.21 updated easily. And, now, the Postgre problem. Is there no end???
And they've come out with G9? Oy, vay!!!
Thanks for you're feedback!

Mon, Nov 07, 2022Up until I bought this new computer in September, my other computer (6 years old!!!) had a C drive with 3TB space, and that's where both Daz software and my huge library were located, so I never did have any problems with Postgre. When it came time to get a new system I kept searching and searching until I found one with a 1TB drive, the Predator gaming desktop I have now.
It took me two days to transfer the entire library to another 1TB drive, then I formatted the 3TB C drive from the dead computer, and another half a day to reload the library onto it. With the application folder in the library on another HD I couldn't update to Studio 4.21, and that's when the guy at Daz told me to move the application into my C drive. The software updated to 4.21 but then the Postgre stuff started. I know if I keep talking about this the solution will somehow present itself but, in the meantime, I'm still waiting for a response from the Daz website to advise me of what to do.

Mon, Nov 07, 2022It makes you wish that some sites' tech support would use something like Discord where you can create a private audio channel and stream screens easily. It's so much nicer than a slow crawl that feels like you might as well be playing chess by mail.

Mon, Nov 07, 2022I did finally get a response from Daz tekkies. He might as well be instructing me to write software! I'm going to have to follow his instructions after I print them out.
