Dance of the Solstice Moon (CLOSED) (CLOSED)

The Ice Elves of the hyperborean lands of Tenebrae hold the winter solstice sacred, for it heralds the beginning of the shortening of the nights, and the eventual return of the sun, that sank far below the southern horizon many months before.
For now, their main source of illumination is the inconstant great-moon Corielle, the lunar goddess of the Ice Elves. But this year, the longest night of the calendar coincides with Corielle's final night of waxing, and thus her greatest brilliance. Whilst the full goddess-moon is veiled tonight by fleeting clouds, her conjunction with the longest night is held to be a most auspicious omen for the coming year, causing the celebrants to dance with a heightened ecstacy.

The background glacier was rendered separately, so it could be blurred in photoshop.

You will probably notice that the wireframe is flipped left to right. After I pulled everything together I decided I liked the final composition more with it spun horizontally [with the aulos player looking up with the moon to the left of the picture], so I've flipped the wireframe so it matches the final image.

I hope you like it.

Wishing everyone a Happy and Peaceful New Year,
