Altering the Order of Forum Messages

Wondering if I can alter the way the messages show in my forums?

I'd like to see newest first but I see no adjustment control.

Hey Handy!

When you say "messages" - do you mean different threads?

Because that's the way it is set up now. Threads with the latest (newest) activity show on top.

Or do you mean posts / replies within a thread?

That is set up so that they appear in order of first post at the top, and last post at the bottom.

This is the way most forums are set up, and the reason for this is so the conversation in the thread reads logically. Otherwise, a person new to the thread would have to start at the bottom and "read upwards" to follow the flow of the conversation.

I understand that you may see the comment section of many websites (including this one) be set up with newest on top, and that makes sense - since they are comments. But a forum is for conversation, and that should logically read top to bottom.

Now, as far as your personal desire to change the "sort-order" behavior, I'll leave that one up to Ion. I'm not sure how difficult the coding would be to alter this behavior on a "per-user" level..

Moving this thread to "Site Help and Feedback".

And thanks for your input and participation in the forums!
