Any specific requirements for dimensions for the renders? 1200x1200?
And thanks for hosting this challenge.

Tue, Apr 18, 2023No, there aren't any specific size requirements. 1200x1200 would work.
But from what I've seen for other submissions on various contests, at least 1600px seems to display nicely.
Thanks for your interest in the contest!

First i like this website. And competitions is indeed a great way to push yourself in a new subject of 3d.
Hey, I wonder why this contest is quite short in length/ days?
The other competition has far more days and that one i think is still quite short.
Did not even start with that one. I am still designing for this contest and honestly i could use a week or 2 more time.
Would it be possible to add some more time?

Fri, Apr 21, 2023Hi there. The owner set this one for 30 days and the Fashion Contest set for 90 days.
It's most likely because the other one is more technically demanding than this one.
I don't think he was planning to extend the time, but I'll ask.
Thanks for your interest in the contest!

Fri, Apr 28, 2023@Need2Sleep - I did receive an answer on this.
Sorry, but the time will not be extended for either contest, and there is a reason...
The contest deadline *was* extended for a previous contest once, and some participants were not very happy.
They felt it was unfair because they were working on an already-established deadline that was changed after the fact.
I'm sorry about that, but I hope you can understand the problems that may cause.

Sat, Apr 29, 2023OK. I hope i get it finished on time.
Thanks for asking!
I was thinking, maybe the next contests can be split into a render and a 3d making.
One render contest and one 3d design or making contest.
Like that everybody can getting involved and the contest rules are more clear that way too.
Just split the price money in half. It's a hue amount anyway, and we don't want the owner to get backrupt.

Sun, Apr 30, 2023Sure thing. Sorry it wasn't the answer you were looking for.
FYI - RenderHub does have render contests that allow for a more even playing field.
There have been three recently, and I'm sure you'll see more coming up.

Hi! If I make the logo as vectors in Illustrator, will this work not count? Is a 3D model and rendering really necessary for a logo?

Sun, Apr 23, 2023Greetings! It is perfectly acceptable to use Illustrator in the design phase, like this entry:
https://www.renderhub.com/forum/3955/no-ai-logo-design
However, the final logo must be a "NO AI 3D model".
Is it "really necessary for a logo?" - No, but the owner did want to keep this with a 3D theme and see how creative people could get.
From the Sexy Robot Contest, it looks like you can get really creative.
Congratulations on being selected as an Honorable Mention!

Sun, Apr 23, 2023Hmm... Chances are high that I'll miss this contest. In addition, the logo to which you gave a link, the design is a bit the same as mine. I don't want it to look like copying someone else's work.

Hi Foxy. Is the winning logo design going to be used by the site as its official 'No AI' logo?
If so may I ask how specifically? Is it going to be on a small banner like we see next to the RenderHub logo on the upper left corner there or is it going to be featured on a full page? Therefore would a square image be preferable or any aspect ratio is fine?
Thanks.

Sun, Apr 23, 2023Hi there! That's a good question to ask, to plan for formatting. No, the owner did not plan to do that.
Since the current location for the NO AI logo is so small, we wouldn't know ahead of time if the winner would look good, or clear, that small.
A square format would probably look best wherever it may appear.

Hi community,
i am a little confused, as to what i have to focus in this contest.
Is it to create a new 2D logo, with which we should create a 3D rendering ?
Or should we use the provided 3D logo to create a new 3D scene rendering ?
New 2D Logo or new 3D scene rendering ?
Thanks in advanced

Wed, Apr 26, 2023You *can* use the provided 3D model as a starting point if you want to, but you don't have to.
"...go ahead and use it as-is, modify it if you want, and texture it any way you want."
"...go ahead and use it as-is, modify it if you want, and texture it any way you want."
Ah, I wish I had seen this post earlier. I need to read more carefully.
I was thinking that the "creative scene" was actually part of the logo. It appears that you are more interested in how cleverly the NO AI symbols are structured.
There have been several cleverly modeled versions of the symbols submitted so far. Unfortunately, mine was not one of them.
Still, thanks for hosting this contest! It prompted me to make something that I probably would not have considered otherwise.

Fri, May 05, 2023About this, could the NoAI tag be automatically added to prevent access to AI software as has already been done on other platforms such as Devianart?
I don't know if adding the tag works here yet, but adding it one by one is a nightmare anyway...

Fri, May 05, 2023@vixcosmen - It certainly could be - and it already is.
Meta robots "noai" and "noimageai" tags are automatically added to every page of the website by default.
Vendors and artists do not need to opt-in, add their own tags, or do anything at all.
I can't include an image in the sub-reply here, so I'll show some examples in a post below.

Hello Foxy,
There is no listing of the judges for this contest on the official page like for previous ones.
I do assume external judges are lined up for this.

I wonder if we should all just accept the fact that this particular contest is not what one can usually expect from Renderhub. In the future, it would be nice to know the name of the person/company sponsoring the contest. It would be nice to know the name of the individual sponsoring this contest as well so that those people not wanting to go through this situation again can not participate in the contest. Based on what has been going on with this contest I would not want to participate in any contest sponsored by whoever this person is. I never expected to win, was just participating in it because a friend suggested that I do so. This sort of thing makes one question the ethics of the owner of this contest as well as the Fashion Contest. Excuses, excuses excuses. The person should be ashamed of himself or herself.

Thu, May 18, 2023I still do think that the owner has good intentions. But pls don't change the rules while the contest is running. Which happened since i am here twice. Maybe it is best to have one 3d make and one render contest each during two months so 60 days. Then everybody , beginner and advanced can participate without stress.
And this has to do with the shop and also against ai:
Maybe it is a good idea to have a starters program for beginners who wants to make a freebee or to start a shop. Because the freebees I wanted to use were corupted. We don't want AI, so we need all to help each other, being a real community, instead of merchants push us to generations we don't want, merchants who push us to dforce, which is often to time cnsuming, decide way to huge prices and a give us only boring repetetion outfits generation over generation. Ai can make free pictures!! Why should the next generation bother to learn all those programs, buy all those expensive props, hdri, clothes, characters? 3D community really has to learn to be a nice community and has to step their game!

I understand the impatience.
But look around. How many other 3D website/forums are regularly offering cash prizes for contests - contests that you can enter for free? Please point them out and I will be glad to post an entry.
There is something different being done here, and I hope that the owner sees the worth in continuing. Yes, we are seeing a pattern of delayed results, but I don't get a sense of deception. Hopefully the entire process will get smoother over time.
In the meantime, kudos to Foxy 3D for keeping a relaxed tone in the forum. Moderators in other forums are often... well... how to put it?... MODERATORS!

I give the owner the rundown of the good and bad - so hopefully, RenderHub as a whole can just keep getting better.
And thank you very much for the kind words. We try really hard to make RenderHub a fun and friendly place.

Can you please let me know which contests had the rules changed? I don't recall that happening.
When I create the contest announcement forum posts, I take the info from the official rules.
And when I answer people's questions about the contests, I usually "direct quote" the rules and link to the page.
I do this so I don't inadvertently mislead people or give them the wrong information.
As far as I know, rules have been *clarified* - but not substantially changed from the original announcement.
Just let me know, and I'll be happy to look into it and discuss it with the owner.

the sexy robot. bla bla.3x These characters should be mostly robot and all sexy, nudity is alowed, but keepiing things to imagination lilely serve you well in this contest. Good luck!

It became: Seand a clear message by creating a no AI 3d model and rendering an amazing image.
Here too. The first description alows a design, while thesecond tells you to make it 3d!

UPDATE: Just a quick summary of what is being sorted out.
1. There were fewer users participating in this contest than in previous contests.
2. Several users submitted multiple entries (which is allowed).
3. Some of those users ended up having more than one of their entries picked as a winner (and a person can only win once).
4. The "best submission" from those users' multiple entries needed to be decided.
5. New "replacement" winning entries from other users needed to be decided.
That's it, in a nutshell, and I hope it makes sense. I figured you all deserved some kind of update here.
This is all getting sorted out, and I have been told winners will be announced... TODAY

The Sexy Robot Contest was never a "render contest". It was a "character creation" contest from the start.
The phrase "completely original sexy robot character" was always in the Deliverables section of the rules.
You can see that I replied to a user's question, and quoted that from the rules.

Another user had a question about whether they could include TWO sexy robots in their submission.
The Deliverables section was edited to say "at least one completely original sexy robot character".
Further questions arose, and it became apparent that people weren't reading the Deliverables section.
For clarity, "Your robot should be an original character you create" was added to the contest intro, as you pointed out - so people couldn't miss it.
The rules for the contest were never changed. They were simply *clarified* because it became obvious that people weren't reading all of them.
-----
The same thing was happening with the NO AI Logo Contest. People weren't reading all of the rules.
The Deliverables section always said this:
"A wireframe or gray shaded image of your design is also required as proof that your submission is an original work."
Since a wireframe image would come from a 3D model, the owner did not anticipate that people would misunderstand what should be delivered.
As you pointed out, "NO AI 3D model" was added to the contest intro to make this more clear.
-----
I'm sorry if you misunderstood those contests. We'll try to do better at making things even more clear in the future.

Fri, May 19, 2023Thanks for the reply.
Yes a wireframe was always needed.
But as you can see at my senteces written from the first announcing of the contests. :
These characters should be mostly robot and all sexy, nudity is alowed, but keepiing things to imagination lilely serve you well in this contest. Good luck!
-This also can mean make your own character from a existing DAZ3D character, by aplying other eys, skin, morphs etc.
The change after the update of announcement: bla 5x You robot should be an original character you create. Good luck!
That means making a robots from scratch, a 3d cube!
Same happened here: By the NOAI contest:
first i said create an amasing design for the contest and you can also offer it as an downloadable item to spread the word.
That can mean you make your logo, and put it as texture on a 3d shirt and render it.
While it became after the announcement update:
Send a clear message by creating a no AI 3d model and rendering an amazing image.
Which mean the logo it self had to be a 3d model.
The winter contest before those wto contests , was just a 3D render contest! Not a 3d making contest.
And again I am not making this up, I have the print screens.
So i had to look at the forum posts from people, to see what the contest was all about. Sorry but that does not make sense.
"I'm sorry if you misunderstood those contests." Then tell my why the first robots renders were almost all daz3D existing characters/ robots? I was not the only one!
Look i am happy with the site. You are doing a fine job as moderator.
As you can see at my original posts I did not have issues with the wait. I even offered solutions.
But pls. Make those contests rules better

UPDATE: The results are in, and the winners have been decided!
There is one last thing that we're waiting on. The owner needs to "build the page" that displays them, with the proper images, links, etc...
I just got off the phone with him, and he will be doing that soon.
The results will be posted here: https://www.renderhub.com/3d-contests/no-ai-logo-design-contest
I apologize for the delay - and thank you for your patience while everything got sorted out.

Fri, May 19, 2023OMG i still don't believe i got an honorable mention! Thanks Foxy!
I'm so happy !

I'm so happy !

Cool winners! Congrats.
I hope for the future AI and artist will get their space. (I don't think we can stop AI and I do see also positive oportunities for it, in medical reseach for example) )
And that artists in the future are still getting the appreciation they are getting now. Cheers.

Interesting. I went through all the entries a week ago and picked out two that I felt best reflected the rules. Both finished in the top three.
Maybe it is just me, but I am encouraged that my standards - to some degree - match the standards of your judges. If that standard holds, and if I do a render that meets that (subjective) high standard, that maybe I'll win a prize down the line. Maybe next time I will also read the instructions more carefully.
Congrats to all the winners!
