Why all the 'IP Restricted' Licenses all of a sudden? (CLOSED)
363Since buying an asset and realizing I couldn't use it in a comic I was making, I always check the license now....and all of a sudden a whole lot of assets have IP Restricted Licenses. Some of course are understandable, some I assume are based on actual people.
But a number I find...odd.....

I am surprised to see one of my products with a restricted IP license. I thought I had made a mistake when I put it on sale but when I edit the product to correct the license is in "Extended Use License". I validated the change and when I look at the product again in the store there is always the mention IP restricted

Mon, Jun 05, 2023It looks like your product makes use of the proprietary DAZ Genesis 8 model. That would make it, "IP Restricted". It's pretty much more of a "blanket" statement. My products aren't IP restricted because they are model props which don't require the use of any specific IP that I don't own. Meaning that one of my lollipops (for example) doesn't require the user to use Victoria 4. A model of a dog could be licking it while laying on the ground, doesn't matter what program it is brought into. Genesis 8 poses *require* that figure model. Someone who buys your pose set would need Genesis 8, which is not your intellectual property.
The website dev is probably in-process regarding the legalese.

Mon, Jun 05, 2023Since I can't edit a post:
Since this is just a pose, I don't see a reason why someone couldn't use the product in a composed 2D rendered scene to be rendered as an image, and reproduced for free or for profit. So my guess now is that all new products posted, trigger the addition of "IP Restricted" as a blanket measure, which should be corrected eventually. We as vendors don't have any control over that designation, not in our store controls.
I noticed that all five examples listed by the OP were published just yesterday which reinforces my suspicion that it is an automatic trigger. I'd give it a week or so before being concerned. Your own license within the product's main file should cover any concerns.

Since products appear on the website immediately upon submission, they need to have a default license.
RenderHub cannot have IP-restricted products appearing without that license, so it has to be the default.
The reviewers will assign the correct license, usually within 24 hours.
I see a ton of products in the queue right now from over the weekend, but they're getting through them.
Sorry for the confusion.
