With vigilance, he stalks his prey,
the Rider on the pale horse.

In vain we seek to evade him, to escape him, or, at the very least, to delay him.
He is unwavering and unyielding--tireless in his task--relentless in his pursuit, 
the Rider on the pale horse.

We pretend he isn't there, shadowing our every move--carefully tracking our every footstep,
We imagine that time is infinite--that we will be overlooked or that his gaze will not fall upon us,
the Rider on the pale horse.

But sooner or later, but always sooner than we expect, he comes for us all. 
He emerges from the mists and shadows, blocks our path forward, and takes all our tomorrows--
without reprieve and without exception,
the Rider on the pale horse.

He is the inevitable future of all that live.
He is the last breath and the end of all our paths--
the Rider on the pale horse--
whose name is Death.
