Ix Chel's Sacrifice (CLOSED)

In the year 752 AD, in the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza, a young woman named Ix Chel was chosen to be sacrificed to the moon goddess.
The sacrifice was scheduled to take place during a lunar eclipse, a time when the moon was supposed to be at its weakest. The high priest raised his obsidian knife and plunged it deep into Ix Chel's chest, then reached in and felt it beating as he ripped it out.
Ix Chel took her last breath, and for a brief moment, her soul could be seen escaping from her open mouth, in a shimmering mist of green and bluethe colors of fertility, healing, and nature.
Ix Chel's sacrifice was a sign of the people's devotion to the moon goddess and a reminder of the power of death and rebirth.
