What do you think about upload limits (gallery)? (CLOSED)

When I first became interested in renderhub, it was mainly the gallery that convinced me. It shone and sparkled with great ideas, different - but always great - implementations and a perfect mix of good and super-good images.
I now know that this was (unfortunately) just a snapshot.
I visit the gallery at least once a day and sort it by "New" (not "Trending"). Some days the old shine and sparkle is still there ... but often the gallery gets a bit boring - for me - when it's flooded with lots of similar (or at least similar-looking) images.
This is not (currently) a suggestion for the administration. But I would be interested to know what the many 3D artists here (and of course the CCs like me, too) think about the image floods, which sometimes overlay the real gems (i.e. brilliant images) a little too much.
Thanks for your feedback in advance!

Wouldn't change anything for me, I simply rage delete like 999 out of 1000 images I make instead of showing them to anyone lol

Mon, Dec 18, 2023Yeah - that's what we all (have to) do ... maybe even the guys with the floods of pictures ...
Joking aside, you raise an important point: self-control.
It would of course be 1000 times better and more sympathetic than any software limit: if people would manage themselves and simply post only a certain number of pictures per day (maybe 3 - 5).

I think that's the intent of being able to make a mini-gallery of images rather than spamming with multiple one-offs. Perhaps a post limit, you can post like 3 per day, and it's up to the user whether those are three singles or three collections, but it frees up valuable real estate on the gallery page for other people to be seen.

Mon, Dec 18, 2023But I'll completely agree. At this particular moment, there's a thread of 24 that make up one narrative, strung into individual posts when they'd be better off together in a single post.
@korpinsulat:
Thank you for your comments and approval - I was afraid I was a German curmudgeon (or was perceived as such
As mentioned / answered above, the best and most beautiful thing would be for people with lots of pictures to limit themselves a little (instead of Software limits). This would not only help the gallery but also the posters, as their pictures would then be perceived in a completely different way.
There was/is a 3D artist here with really appealing and cute pictures. But then came 1 or 2 floods of pictures (there were more than 50 in total) of him ... and then the individual pictures got lost and at some point I didn't feel like looking at the pictures separately any more.
In my opinion, Sedesdis currently has a great example of a picture story (and story telling):
https://www.renderhub.com/sedesdis/gallery
It feels like an eternity before the story continues - but that's what makes it so interesting (imho): does the giant eat the fairy at the end? Does the fairy turn the giant into a frog? Will the two become best friends? Personally, I look forward to a new picture every day.
OK - let's wait and see if a "Lots of Pictures" poster gets in touch. Maybe there is a reason after all that I just haven't understood yet ...

Tue, Dec 19, 2023We don't know if "Lots of Pictures poster" reads the forums, to find out more it might be interesting to ask him in a private message the reason for this flood of images!

Tue, Dec 19, 2023Hey - where's the fun in that? Especially as I would then possibly know something (or not) - but other interested parties would be empty-handed (and I believe there are some here who are interested in the solution to the puzzle).
A serious - or perhaps not quite so serious - discussion with the "Flooders" (reminds me of the Dutch Prollo comedy "The Flodders"
would be much more amusing and interesting ... imho

Tue, Dec 19, 2023It is Flodder, directed by Dick Maas. It has now become a Dutch cult film. There is a second nickname for these types of people called: Tokkie. Associated with antisocial people. There are still a lot of them around here in the Netherlands...

Tue, Dec 19, 2023"Tokkie. Associated with antisocial people. There are still a lot of them around here in the Netherlands...". And there leader - or should I say "Fuehrer" - is Geert Wilders
But to reassure you: Unfortunately, there are a lot of tokkies running around here in Germany, too.
Thanks for the additional information on "Flodders". I had rather associated Dick Maas with films like "De Lift" or "Amsterdamned". You never stop learning

Tue, Dec 19, 2023The films "De Lift" and "Amsterdammed" have also become cult items of Dutch cinema.
Geert.....meh
Geert is not my best friend, but I do respect the social problems that he dares to discuss. Furthermore, I don't concern myself with politics because it's boring.

Tue, Dec 19, 2023OK - then I hope I haven't stepped on your toes with Geert - guys like Wilders, Hoecke, Orban, etc. make me see red ... Ouch, now I've outed myself as a leftist
