Pyrrhic Victory (CLOSED)

Crikey, welp, here we go! Here's my entry--
It's very... not wintery over here in Australia (will someone stop setting our country on fire?), and honestly any temperature drop below 15 Celsius makes me sad and upset so naturally a wintery image was going to go to a dark place for me.
Although actually *making* this render took me to dark places too. This isn't a composite of parts or foreground/background, it was rendered as a single image, so I'm very thankful to my beefy computer for putting up with me shoving entire forests into the distant background despite barely even being able to see them. And oh man the amount of instancing I did should be illegal. It was good fun though. Even if I did lapse into that classic scenario of 'finishing' it, noticing something wrong, 'finishing' it again, seeing something else, on and on and on... I'm pretty sure someone said something about artwork never being finished. Whoever they were, they were very poignant. Personally I know it's time to stop working on an artwork if seeing it makes me physically anxious lol.
(Fun fact, the only reason I've learnt blender was to make a sword that actually has a ricasso (little non-bladey bit after the hilt that you can grab onto) so I've had a chance to bust that baby out too which is nice.)
(I've also never seen snow before. I dunno if I want to, it seems so... soggy. I think I'll enjoy it in art only.)
