Moving from G8F to G9F? (CLOSED)

I finally decided to attempt creating a Genesis 9 female character. Her name is GD Adele, and she's got a ways to go before becoming my first G9F figure on the market.

It is a good idea to morph G9 because in the medium term more and more users will move to G9, perhaps with a possible version G9.1 which will correct the defects that we have read in the forums.
Personally I find it successful, I find the shape of the face that I often saw for G8F, unless it is this hair that gives it this family look with G8F!

Thu, Dec 28, 2023Thanks for your response. As far as Adele's face is concerned, I haven't yet gotten my hands on any G9 merchant resources for facial construction. But I believe what gives Adele her "G8F shaped face" is the hair I used on her - Prae's Sepha hair.

Thu, Dec 28, 2023Thanks. And that compliment means more to me since this was my first attempt at working on a G9F!
A nice piece of work. And although I personally have given up on the production for G9, I also think that G9 will prevail in the "normal" sector. But in the - let's call it the "adult sector" (my field of work) - G8 will be ahead in the coming years/decades.
Nevertheless (and as I said before): great work

I myself am sticking with G8, and will probably move on to G10 in a couple years when that arrives. But that's just me.

Sat, Dec 30, 2023Should I be able to overcome my computer's "refusal" to allow me to finish with G8F character construction I will probably not venture too much into creating G9F characters. But that's just one of the problems I have to overcome. Unfortunately the HD where ALL my characters are stored, including ones under development, crashed and is inaccessible. I'm going to get it to a computer place (not many where I'm living now) and hopefully they'll be able to "fix" it. If they can't I just might stick with working on G9s.
Off to a nice start. I left Daz for some time after the release of Genesis 8.1 and came back after Genesis 9 launched. I started following you to see what your progress looks like moving forward.

I think the one thing about G9 is that you can make either a male or female from one default figure. Any earlier attempts to play around with morphing didn't seem to look "realistic", probably just being too used to G8s. There are not very many merchant resources out there yet but I've got a few. But as I mentioned above the HD which had ALL of my girls' stuff crashed and was inaccessible, and I resigned myself to the fact that all my G8 stuff was lost forever, so I decided to slowly start moving to G9. Two days ago, however, I tried plugging the "dead" drive into my lap top, and somehow it came alive. I was able to copy all of my files onto another drive so I have them, and other things, back again. That drive again died, and I haven't been able to access it any more. So I'm going through stuff to get a handle on where I left off some six or so months ago.

I really like what you've done here!
I buy both G8 and G9 characters; I enjoy working with both . Naturally, I have far many more assets for G8, but I'm adding to G9. I 'm glad you recovered the data from the HD, and I hope that you continue to work on producing some G9 characters.

G8 and especially G8.1 is and remains the best Genesis figure. And unless a G9.1 will be released that corrects all the errors and dysfunctions, G9 will not prevail. There are so many people who still use G8/8.1 and even a couple of vendors switched back from G9 to G8/8.1. For me, G8.1 has everything a Genesis figure needs. And when I think of all the additional tools I have bought in the past and which I use to even perfect it, I don't need G9, because G8.1 leaves nothing to be desired. I was never able to comprehend the hype around G9. To me, G9 is nothing but a marketing trick. Shortly before it came out, it sounded promising, according to what Daz announced. But after G9's release the disenchantment came pretty quickly. And nothing has changed since then.

Mon, Feb 19, 2024Agree with you on all points.
GD Adele was the experiment; I'm still sticking with character creation using the G8Fs.
