DIM and smart content (CLOSED)

User of DazStudio, I really like your products, but the absence of "smart content" compatibility is really lacking.
Is it a proprietary thing ?

I know of one seller that implements it on here with their products.
Here's a link to the forum post
It can be set up to use with DIM.
I haven't tried setting it up before, but you can set it up to to install through DIM and appear in smart content.
Here's a forum post I was reading that may help you understand it a bit better.
If you wanted to do it yourself, it is possible.

In other words, it's a bit tricky, but a paid-for plugin does technically make it possible, but it's one of those things that, if you mess that part up, you will spend more time fixing it than you would any morphs or textures. Or that's how it's perceived anyway, I've never done it before myself. But the fact that even Daz PAs that sell on third-party sites don't bother with it speaks volumes as to how pleasant it is to do.

I was thinking about adding the functionality to my products since I do own content package assist. Personally, I don't use smart content and actually prefer my 3rd party content to be in a separate library. Is there that much demand for it?
Also came across this video tutorial if you wanted to do it yourself which is what this guy does.

Yeah, it's a DAZ thing, although the implementation isn't proprietary. DAZ uses PostgreSQL and the implementation is unreliable on Windows at best. Getting it to work in Linux is a bit of a nightmare. Studio itself runs great in a Wine bottle, although your mileage may vary rendering in Iray due to its reliance on nVidia. But the "smart content" thing isn't all that great. It was put in place because DAZ tried to introduce DRM, and having "smart content" interfaced with their servers would make that easy. Thankfully not a lot of people jumped aboard that train wreck.
