A single light source with a cream colored glossy back drop. This is a very similar pose shot from an overhead camera. Two steps in the simulation process: one for the dress, another for the shawl.
Lighting: Fresnel light set to create concentric rings. It casts a pair of rings almost directly downward to create the crescent which cuts through the fabric of the shawl and casts a shadow at the top of the arc. The center of the fresnel lens penetrates the character's dress. The back drop provides a warm glow, suffusing the skin and providing surface specular highlights on the fabric edges.
