Reflections of Summer (CLOSED)

Nice calm scene in nature with a well captured pose. Nice to see your entry, as you may have been busy, being away for a while : D

Mon, Jul 01, 2024I first thougt it was a cat curled up on that pillow, resting by her side in the thumbnail

The picture looks quiet nice.
I doubt it was a good idea using so much post work in a 3D render contest.
For me personly it makes no sense using a ps filter, which makes it impossible to judge the quality of a 3d render.
But I don't have to decide this.
It's a nice picture anyway.

Thu, Jul 11, 2024Well, it isn't as much post work as you may think. I did 3 separate render passes. One in which I hid a portion of the dress as it draped, one in which I hid a portion of the dress and one with no background (as it was quicker) and no water to avoid the boat appearing flooded as it does in the first two passes. I suppose I could mess around running simulation after simulation to try and get the material to work properly, or I can do a quick selection and some doctoring. The latter seemed like a better use of time. I guess I could play around with a D-Former (DAZ) to push the water out of the way. Again, that seemed like a headache that would end poorly. In the end, a quick composite of the three render passes underwent some color adjustments and a couple of filter... mostly because I felt it suited the image. As to the contest itself, I cannot speak its nature. I once referred to it as a render contest and caught an ear full by people telling me it was an art contest. I really can't say. I'll attache an image detailing a breakdown of the afore mentioned. It will show the trouble areas that I addressed with 3 passes. It will also give you a sense of the image versus the image with some color tweaks and what little bit of filtration. In the end, beats me. I'm glad you liked the image though.

Fri, Jul 12, 2024thank you.... I can't take much credit... off the shelf DAZ3D stuff — the boat, the figure, dress, environment, the gobo for dappled lighting...
