Reflections of Desire (CLOSED)

I enjoyed this one. The title sounds like a 70s era Porno.... which is oddly period correct, more ore less... I was shooting for an older feel - late 60s-early 70s. I did 2 other entries. The problem I was encountering was that to keep interest on the subject, I wanted to keep them large in the frame, which minimized the space available for reflection... an issue since the theme was reflection, after all. SO I thought about a store window. That would allow the reflection and the subject to share the screen. I built as much reflection into the background of the image as I could. Unfortunately, a lot of that is obscured by the foreground. Angling it differently may not have worked to catch the right angle. Oh well. For the foreground, I thought giving her retro glasses would add additional reflection while reinforcing the retro feel. I cropped the final entry a bit from the full render. Nonetheless...

Have you thought of aligning the reflection of the white pearl necklace (one in the shop window) with her collar, so it fits just right in that position, as if she feels, she already possesses the white pearl necklace, instead of reflecting on her hair, jmho. It is good this way too, as you might not have wanted the reflection disappear, among the darker one she's wearing. Same with the earrings, could be aligned to her ears instead of the fingers, maybe. .. Good work in the end!

I would need to raise the camera and tilt down… It may reveal more of the street and car reflections and show a little bit of the jewelry case

Wed, Jul 03, 2024I see what you mean. Instead of changing the camera view, placing that black mannequin, holding the white pearl necklace, closer to her collar reflection in the shop window might have been easier, just as a thought. It looks good in the end, nevertheless : D
Drjivago's commented about the reflection on the face and perhaps it would work better if it was over the neck. Yep. It probably would. I kicked it around and decided to give it another go. If it is alright, I would prefer the new one was considered as the entry. In addition to the new wireframe, there are reference images (shutter stock, dreamstime, etc.) There is also an early concept test. There is also the render pass breakdown. I rendered in 4 separate stages to better control the level of blur and the focus (figurative vs. literal) of the image. Yes, the chandelier was left moved in post. Yes the city background was moved upward in post. Yep, the foreground and background plates were given a lens blur in post, and there was some fading of the reflection and it was adjusted via transparency and transfer modes. Below is the breakdown and the final (if acceptable)
