The scene is somewhat flawed in the narrative, at first glance I thought she had been hit in the face, this makes the meaning of the scene more horrible (sorry) Maybe if she appeared much more melted, or the reason was simply that she approached a candle or the fireplace. And her partner saw the scene horrified, but in a more distant way.
But her face, her expression and the scene in general are well done.
