This morning I was once again faced with a gigantic problem: how does the sheep do (sound) in English????
And because some of you - myself included - have some health / physical / mental problemsthese days I thought it was time for something funny (at least I hope some of you will find it funny or at least entertaining).
So here's my (not entirely serious) question: how do animals sound to you - in your language?
I'll start right away as Pushee-Ri with a few animals from Germany.
Enjoy

So - here I am, starting off without much chatter
The sheep: Maeh (or better Mäh, if UTF-8 is finally supported)
The cow: Muh (and long drawn out: Muuuuhhhh)
The donkey: Iahhh (sometimes: Ia)
The dog: Wau (and in view of a sausage: Wau Wau)
The cat: Miau
The chicken: Gack Gack
The cock: Kikeriki
The duck: Quack Quack
The pig: Oink Oink
The frog: Quaaak
The horse: ??? (in Germany the horses don't speak - with the exception of Mr. Ed ... but then that is synchronized)
And since I just mentioned UTF-8: here's a quick test. I'm sorry if only nonsense or emptiness is displayed here - unfortunately I can't edit:

Sat, Jan 04You're welcome - I'm glad you can do something with it
I thought this not entirely serious thread would be a good opportunity to try out various UTF-8 etc. Now we can add cows, horses and cowboys alongside smiling and winking smileys: Hi-Yo, Silver!

Sat, Jan 04Funny thread!
FYI - There is already an open feature request for the coders to get emojis working properly.
I have added a reference link there to this thread. So your thread will now live on in our official admin section.
Happy New Year to you!

It's not my native language but my father who lived in Italy liked this song.

Sat, Jan 04Grazie mille
In the middle of the song you can hear a few animal voices ... now I just have to find out how they are written
BTW - the video reminded me of the Banana Song - the version that is played in the brilliant scene from "Kick Ass" in which Chloë Grace Moretz really turns it up in a purple wig as the Hit-Girl:

This is funny, I like it

pig: nøff
sheep: bææ ( æ pronounce like air without r)
bird: pip pip
ducks: kvakk kvakk
frogs: kvekk kvekk
and the fox:

Sat, Jan 04En stor takk til Norge
That's really funny: if a Norwegian cow came to 'schland, it would greet me with a "Möö"
I find it really interesting that the sounds of animals, which sound the same everywhere, are reproduced differently in different languages.
I also really liked the video, by the way: unusual and with very informative content.
And speaking of music: one of my favorite soprano saxophonists (jazz) comes from Norway: Jan Garbarek. What I like most about his compositions is the incredible calm and serenity: it clears your head and you can just let yourself drift.

Sat, Jan 04Yes, animals have the same language, doesn't matter where they are.
An african cow will make the same sound like a finnish cow, only we humans are able to put a difference in it
Ylvis, very famous in Norway, known for their comedy and their songs, really hit the jackpot with this fox song.
Ok, a bit more off topic, since you mentioned Jan Garbarek.
No Jazz, but kind of Indie rock, even though for me there is a bit of jazz in many of their songs.
Funny thing with these 2 is, that most Norwegians don't know about them

Sat, Jan 04Un grand merci
My ears have fallen off now that I've had to listen to the video several times, but here's the list. If I have written something wrong, please let me know:
The duck: Coin
The sheep: Bê
The pig: Groin
The horse: Hiii (wow - en France, les chevaux savent parler. C'est formidable ! )
The cow: Meuh
The dog: Wouf

Sat, Jan 04I would rather write it like this for :
The duck: Coin-coin
The sheep: Bê => Bêêê
The cow: Meuh => Meuuuh
and to complete
donkey => Hi han
chat => Miaou

This morning I was watching the snow drift by, wondering if all the native English speakers were too busy to write anything in this thread or not child-headed enough to do so ...
And it was at that precise moment that I remembered an ancient Vinyl pressing wherein it is written (however it is doable to write something to vinyl) that could describe the voice of dogs (probably choking) to me in a clearly ambiguous way.
Together with the video from Beautiful Misfits, I can now do a little groundwork here ... and hope for a native speaker who might improve something:
Dog: woof (or arf, when choking)
Cat: meow
Bird: tweet
Cow: moo
Frog: croak
Elephant: toot
Duck: quack
Seal: ow ow
Fox: ??? (see above
but how the hell does the sheep sound????
And here is that "ancient Vinyl" ... and at the same time one of my favorite musicians ... and at the same time possibly and maybe
a very hot clue for one of my next challenges
