Lava Lamp Blobs - Free Stylised PBR Texture
Add a retro glow to groovy lounges, 70s bedrooms, sci-fi sets, music videos and cartoon scenes with Lava Lamp Blobs, a free seamless stylised material from 3D Shop. It comes with full PBR maps, so it works in game engines, Blender and other 3D tools straight away.
The material shows glossy, rounded wax blobs in hot orange, magenta pink and deep violet, packed together like the inside of a lava lamp. The texture tiles without visible seams.
Everything comes in one download, with each version in its own folder: PNG 2K, PNG 1K, PNG 512, .sbsar, Unity package and Unreal project.
What's included
- PNG textures (2K, 1K and 512 folders). 6 PNG files per size, 18 PNG files in total. Normal map is OpenGL (Y+). Height map is 16-bit.
- Substance .sbsar (SBSAR folder). 1 .sbsar file built from the 2K maps. It outputs the same maps as the PNG set.
- Unity package (Unity folder: .unitypackage and QuickStart.txt). 9 materials: Built-in, URP and HDRP at 2K, 1K and 512, OpenGL normals and demo scenes.
- Unreal project (Unreal folder: one project with 2K, 1K and 512). Ready-made Unreal project built in Unreal Engine 5.3 and tested in UE 5.3 to 5.8: master material M_LavaLampBlobs_Master, a drag-and-drop material instance per resolution plus 3x3 tiled versions (no code needed), DirectX normals, packed ORM maps (R = AO, G = Roughness, B = Metallic), a shader-ball showcase map and a seamless tiling showcase map, and QuickStart.txt.
- Royalty-Free-Licence.txt and a quick-start guide
The material
- LL_001 Lava Lamp Blobs
How do they tile?
Lava Lamp Blobs is seamless in both directions. The gallery shows it tiled 2 x 2, lit straight from the source material, and repeated 4 x 4, so you can see how it covers a larger surface.
Technical details
- 1 seamless (tileable) material set
- Resolutions: 2048x2048, 1024x1024 and 512x512 PNG
- Maps: BaseColor, Normal, Height, Roughness, AO, Metallic
- No Emissive map
- Formats: PNG (2K, 1K, 512), Substance .sbsar, Unity package (Built-in, URP, HDRP), Unreal Engine 5.3 project (tested in UE 5.3 to 5.8)
- Normal maps: OpenGL (Y+) in the PNG, .sbsar and Unity files; DirectX (Y-) in the Unreal project only
- File names follow LL_###_Map_Size_Name, for example LL_001_PBR_Roughness_2K_LavaLampBlobs.png
Licence
Royalty-Free-Licence.txt (in the download) adds to the RenderHub licence:
- Team members on the same project may use the files for that project.
Base colour created with AI assistance, then seam-repaired and built into full PBR maps by hand.
