Dear Diary,
Peace is not found in a place; it is a state of mind that feels content. A state that may feel still, yet never incomplete or empty. A feeling that makes my heart quiet.
After a long turmoil of emotions, I found that state on the beach of Varkala, Kerala. An unused fisherman's boat was lying on the shore, and I rested there.
Coincidentally, a flower seller's basket was placed beside it. When I picked a flower, I was surprised to see a rose.
That rose reflected my memories of love in the same way the mirror reflected me. I kept staring at it, remembering all that had happened, all that had passed away, and all that I still carried secretly with a smile. Not in a mood of regret, not in a mood of moving on, just acceptance.
The waves reminded me of summer tanning. But I had found peace, and I wanted to hold on to it for a little while longer.
