The Reflection Knows

The Reflection Knows is a psychological horror scene built around the unsettling relationship between a woman and the figure staring back at her from the mirror. Both appear connected, yet something is fundamentally wrong. The blood, the altered face and the direct gaze of the other self leave the story deliberately unresolved: Is the reflection revealing the truth, predicting what is to come, or showing something that exists only on the other side of the glass?
The composition deliberately avoids a conventional mirror interaction. Both versions of the character look toward the viewer, turning the reflection into an independent presence rather than a simple optical counterpart. The cracked glass, subdued candlelight, skull imagery and deteriorating elegance of the room reinforce the feeling that the boundary between reality and reflection has begun to collapse.
WORKFLOW
The artwork was created using two separate DAZ Studio scene files.
The first scene contains the horror version of the character standing in front of the mirror, while the second uses the normal, uninjured version with the same mirror setup.
Both characters were deliberately posed to look toward the camera rather than following the physically expected viewing direction of a conventional mirror reflection. This was an intentional artistic decision: the reflected version is not meant to function simply as a realistic optical reflection, but as a separate visual and psychological presence within the scene.
The two DAZ Studio renders were then brought together in Adobe Photoshop, where the normal character from the second render was integrated into the mirror of the horror scene.
Both versions of the character were subsequently refined individually in Photoshop. Their appearance, tonal separation, lighting and atmosphere were adjusted independently, while additional stylistic treatments were used to distinguish the two identities and still maintain their visual connection.
Further post-processing was used to shape the final dark, cinematic atmosphere, control the viewer's focus and integrate the characters, mirror and surrounding environment into a coherent composition.
The resulting mirror image is therefore not a standard DAZ Studio mirror reflection, but a deliberately constructed composite created from two separately prepared 3D scenes and extensive Photoshop post-processing.

Awesome work SabineCreations! I had started working on a similar image when I knew the contest was coming. I apologize that there is the similarity with the mirror although it will be a different feel.
