A couple of new development renders of Hana from Echelon-7.

I've been working on finalizing her hair before she moves into production. Her character design has always called for long black hair with bright neon-pink streaks, but I wanted the pink to feel integrated into the actual strands rather than simply tinting large sections of the hair.

The original hair asset has a very flexible blending system, but getting the streak placement and especially the exact shade of pink I wanted took some experimenting. I ultimately created a custom variation of the original hair texture, preserving the underlying strand detail while introducing the brighter pink selectively into the front portion of the hairstyle.

These two renders are essentially the result of that experiment.

I'm pretty happy with where it landed. The hair still reads primarily as black, while the pink gives Hana the slightly futuristic/cyberpunk edge I've always envisioned for her without overwhelming the rest of her design.

I may eventually experiment with giving the pink strands a very subtle emissive/glow effect for dark environments—this is 2258, after all—but that's strictly a bonus. I'm happy enough with the current non-emissive version that I don't consider glow necessary.
For now, I think we've found Hana's hair.
