She ran until her legs could carry her no more.

The forest was silent.

Too silent.

She stopped and looked back. Nothing. No footsteps. No voice. Only the cold mist moving slowly between the trees.

For a moment, she believed she had escaped.

Then she heard a branch break behind her.

She turned.

He was standing there.

Motionless.

Watching her.

She didn't know who he was, or how long he had been following her. But when he slowly stepped out of the darkness, she realized something that made her blood run cold.

He hadn't been chasing her.

He had been waiting for her to stop.

Impressive mud. I think I would want to see the guy with the axe and beard from the wire-shot, and probably with a more menacing body shape in the second image, which I like better for the storytelling. But then again, its already dead cool as is.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback. I wanted to keep the second image more mysterious and focused on the storytelling, but I totally see what you mean about the axe guy. I'm glad you enjoyed it as it is!

Great submission but the second one really captured my heart. Just the camera over her shoulder really put the terror in me as the viewer. Just beautifully atmospheric and captures the fear of the long chase up to this point. Fantastic image and best of luck in the competition!
