The Japanese heavy cruiser Atago is escorting the aircraft carrier Hiryu as she launches her second air attack against the American carrier Yorktown during the battle of Midway, June 4, 1942. A couple of hours after the attack was launched American planes from US carriers Enterprise and Hornet swooped in and bombed Hiryu so badly she had to be scuttled, sinking the following morning.
