Such a scene never did take place. The Germans had sent a U-boat to Japan with some technological secrets but the U-boat never made it.

German and Italian subs were active in the Indian Ocean sailing out of coop bases in Malaysia and Japan. Look up Monsun Gruppe. Not large but more than 1-2.
