Jessica
3D Render by kssamSimply a photorealistic 3D render of Jessica Davis, a character from one of my comics who gets tricked by her college professor. He simply asked her if she wanted to help feed his snake. She never thought she would be the food.
Jessica is based on the Genesis 8 figure, and I used a basic 3 point light setup.

The teeth shader is impressive and very lifelike. How did you do that??

Sat, Oct 22, 2022To sum it up quickly...photoshop. The yellowing is most important. Nobody has perfect white teeth. The more subtle flaws you can add, the more your brain accepts that it's real.

Sat, Oct 22, 2022Damn, and I thought you had THE easy solution to get this achieved. I suspected that you implanted the teeth from a photo, but I had hoped that somebody just created a one fits all set of ivories to shove into the figure. Well then, back to the drawing board and thanks for letting me know.

Thu, Dec 08, 2022Thanks, I occacionally use FaceApp, but there is only one free smile and this is (sorry for the pun) widely used. In combination with Neural Filters in PS one gets some variation. However, the facial movement is only half the thing, a proper tooth shader would really be helpful (*waves madly at character designers*). Guess I'd gladly pay for some proper shaders.

Sun, Dec 11, 2022I saw a video the other day about using FaceApp by rdaughter. I gave it a try last week and the results were very stunning. It is able to cut post time into a fraction of using Ps. Only issue is, the app seems to lower the quality of the image. I've started using it for my Comic series as those images don't need to be of any higher quality. Depending on the image, it can a very viable option.
Downloading it onto my PC was a chore though. lol

Mon, Dec 12, 2022I downloaded MEmu and run it from there. Though, the program crashes all the time trying to load ads for me to watch while I'm working. Drives me crazy.

Wed, Dec 14, 2022I was honestly pretty amazed at how well face app performed on the images. Other than the loss of quality and the watermark, it's pretty much the same as what I'm doing in Ps, just much much faster.
Can you tell me what expression morphs did you use to achieve that higly realistic smile?

Wed, Oct 26, 2022I'm not going to call you a liar, but I'm tempted. She looks very convincing. It's your cousin, friend or someone, right? lol

Wed, Oct 26, 2022lol, Thanks. I'll have to remember to screenshot the process next time to silence the skeptics.

Very nice! I have to say the glasses really made it for me. I would never have thought of that choice but seeing it, wow! Great job!

Sat, Oct 29, 2022Thank you. I had a friend back in High School who had a pair just like those. Thick white frames. They made her face (which was beautiful anyway) pop out of any crowd.
Your Photoshop work got me, I was like "holy crap, is this what Gen 9 is like?" Then I read some comments. Very nice!

Mon, Nov 07, 2022Lol, thanks. I've started playing with the Gen 9s but haven't posted anything from them yet.
I agree that this is sensational job of applying realistic shaders. Very talented work. Bravo !!!!!!

Tue, Feb 21, 2023Several others have said the same thing about the glasses. I knew a girl once back in high school that had blonde hair and thick white framed glasses. She always stood out of the crowd with those. To this day, I can't remember her name, but I can still see her glasses in my memory.

Wed, Feb 22, 2023So when you use PS for your smiles, do you just correct the existing teeth? How do you get the natural smile lines?

Wed, Feb 22, 2023I cheat. I use many images from iStock of smiling. I'll crop out the smile and mouth that I want and merge it with my image. Once in place it's just a matter of tone and color matching and blending. Smile lines come included. You can opt to use the smile editor within PS, but I feel my way is easier and I know what the smile will look like before I start.

Thu, Feb 23, 2023So you're basically pasting a real smile on a 3D image...good idea.

Tue, Dec 17, 2024Thank you, I'm glad you liked her. She's an older render, but turned out beautiful. I spent a few hours yellowing parts of her teeth in photoshop to give them that realistic look. Before you could just click a button and have AI do it all for you. Anyway, thanks for the kind comment.
The face is very natural. Congratulations on the work.

Sun, Aug 03Thank you. Jessica still remains one of my favorite renders for her smile. She was one of the first images I edited a smile with in PS and posted here to share. I'm glad you like her.
