Fall Reading - 2nd Entry for the Horror Contest
3D Render by maru_berlinFor a seven year old it had been quite a shocking surprise being able to read characters out of books. And to explain to adults that Pinocchio was not an imaginary friend but a real, well..., person living in her bedroom. It took her some effort to find out how to send him back, especially since being "hid" in the fireplace was her first idea but not an option in the end. But it taught her not to tell anybody about her gift.
Mr Inky was well read (he hated the pun), but always cheered her up and she decided to keep Shelob until the rat problem in the cellar was solved. The nameless Zombie (obviously a coward) only could be read out of his story when the fridge was well filled and she was very unsure what to make of the wherewolf, who always asked her to wear red lingerie. But all in all she enjoyed having them around in the darker autumn days and she was very happy for them to answer the door when the neighbourhood's children came round for Halloween.

Sun, Oct 23, 2022Oh, excellent, but the idea with reading characters out of books is borrowed from Tintenherz by Cornelia Funke.
Glad you like it, and thanks for following along. My main account is on DA, but mostly I post the same stuff here. If there are different versions (often Rendo gets a vanilla version, too), there is a hint in the blurb.
