This has got to be my favorite portrait that you've done! The angle her face is tilted, the lighting, the coloring in her face. All the tiny details in her skin. Even the braces on her teeth pull this image together. Amazing!

Tue, Jun 20, 2023I was wanting to make a sorta, coming of age portrait. No longer a girl, but not yet a woman. She's around 17/19 years old with a true "girl next door" look. She still allows her natural beauty to show, which comes with all the tiny flaws in her skin. Her braces are the last thing to tie her to her youth.

Thu, Jun 22, 2023I created several ghost light domes that I use. I just pick and choose which one fits the image the best, the rotate it to get the shadowing effect I'm looking for and press render. I've also created several presets in Adobe Lightroom to coincide with my lighting packages to draw out the natural beauty of their skin, hair, etc.. So nothing that you can jump over to the Daz store and pick up if that's what you were asking.

Fri, Jun 23, 2023Well, that actually was exactly what I was asking. Oh well. So basically you created your own lighting packs. How do you save those so they can be used like a pack should I try and attempt setting up my own?
I"m just pleased she doesn't have the irritating (to me) look of the quintessential runway model or perfect face woman from hell. She looks, human. That, is almost a rarity but not always, for daz users. Its just an assembly line of beauty... boring, perfect, inhuman beauty. I want the fallible, mistake making, not perfect human... they make scenes pop like nothing else.

Tue, Jun 20, 2023I couldn't agree more. The Barbie Doll, plastic look that almost all of Daz renders have drive me insane. To me, perfection is hidden within imperfection. Like you said, it's the flaws that bring a render to life. You can have the best lighting, perfect pose and the perfect hair, but without a small scar, some rosacea, some sun spots etc, them image looks unnatural. I tried my best to get some glisten off of her braces but was limited by what Daz could do. I wanted to create this image without using Photoshop at all to see how it would look. Turns out, a decent render can happen withing Daz, with a little help from Lightroom. lol
Ohmy.... you agree with me... I am... so pleased. wheee !

Tue, Jun 20, 2023I got into Daz3D just to help illustrate some silly comic stories. After a little while, it became a fun challenge to try and make my portrait renders look as lifelike as possible. It's something that I still challenge myself to attempt between writing stories.
I'm impressed my dear, quite quite. yup yup. I have to admit its a lovely, inspiring, maddening, task to sit here playing with 'bend' and lighting... sometimes I want to scream. That's when I don't touch daz for days. Other times I wallow in the anality of it like a brontosaurus in shit. I'm interested in trying to find those little moments between the bigger moments, that lead to ... uhhhh... something over there. Blah blah, andmore full of myself bs.

. I love using ceiling ghostlight... about 5200 temp and just a touch of green an yellow... for me, that's a color bomb.
