Midnight Selfie
3D Render by kssamI wanted to create a sort of POV image of Emma taking a Selfie. I chose to have her skinny dipping in the moonlight and have the camera angle be that of her phone. After working on the image in Lightroom, I decided that a classic B&W was the way to go with this image. It best pulled out the details in her face, skin and hair, as well as the ripples in the water she's sitting in.
What are your thoughts about B&W? I don't see many 3D artists using it very often.
Thanks for viewing.

Depends on the image. I know it can make certain vintage shots feel just a little bit older (and likewise, using color on them makes them look just a little bit newer). It can also draw certain moods when used for non-vintage shots.

Mon, Jun 26, 2023Absolutely. I just happened to notice that there weren't many 3D renders in B&W. I realize using the gray scale tends to lean heavily towards a gloomy or depressing mood, but can also (like in this image) bring out the simplicity of the scene. For example, though she is nude, I concentrated the lighting on her face and away from her chest. I wanted the eye to be pulled toward her face. The color image of this scene didn't pull that off nearly as well. Either that or the image was taken in the 40s. lol
