"... although the opposite seemed true when it started. She and the group had found the makeshift radio tower along with a cache of supplies that would last them at least a month. Whoever had built the tower and stored the supplies was nowhere to be found; they'd most likely been killed by the undead that now populated the city. The tower seemed a safe distance from the city; that, along with the radio and supplies made it an easy decision for Fabi and her group to stay there. It was the wrong decision.
The surrounding area was overgrown with shrubs, so it had been all too easy for them to miss the cave that was a short distance from the tower. And that was where the tower's former occupants were waiting. Waiting for the sounds of life coming from the tower, the sounds that drew them out of the cave to pounce unexpectedly on Fabi and her group. They fought well, but the surprise had been too complete, and one by one they fell to the undead. In the end, only Fabi was left alive, after having bludgeoned the last of the foul things that killed her friends. Now she sat watching the day die, as well, wondering how she'd keep surviving all on her own."
