Sun, Feb 23The lighting is simple, i love Rembrandt lighting so i try and use it all the time lol, on this render its a rectangle light in the upper camera left which you can see as a catch light in her eyes and also causes the triangle of light on her right cheek, then to the right another rectangle light set a lot dimmer as a fill light so theres no black shadows. Then a disc light above and behind and slightly to the right to create a rim light, oh and a spotlight on the background behind her. And as for effects do you use photoshop?

Sun, Feb 23Wow thanks for the detailed reply, it's very kind of you. I use a free photoshop called paint.net. Maybe that's the issue with my renders, no post-effect filter of any kind.

Sun, Mar 16Sorry for the long delay i have been a busy bugger. I have never used paint.net, i tried gimp but i feel like it over complicates things, photoshop i would say is the best for post work, your renders look good anyway but for effects if paint.net can do it i would look up dodge and burn as shadows i think make a massive difference in a render adding more depth, if ever you get photoshop ill send you a psd with all the layers and effects on to look at.
