3D Render by TZO3k1This is my first entry into the reflection contest.
Copied from my entry thread:
“This was a bitch to make, as I had to build a set with primitives with the iray mat display settings matching the scene using a 35 mm cam, so it's pretty much not uniform, as it has been fitted to match the HDRI itself, so I had to make sure the individual primitives were still in a comparable position in world space so that the walls, mirror and other props were not located miles apart from each other, I debated whether to go the simpler route and use layers in Affinity photo in order to get the same effect, but as always I make my scenes for both still images, and animated ones by habit, so, I took the harder route!
I bent my own no post-work rule and added some Chromatic Aberration, and clarity as the original HDRI had some CA, so I tried to match it, the clarity is there to give the form a more solid look so it can fit better in the scene, I also am including the untouched version for comparison, hopefully they're close to identical as I wanted the change to be subtle, I hope I achieved this effect.
I had fun making this in spite of the finickiness with putting it together, and I hope you have fun viewing it, thanks for looking, and as always critiques are very welcome!
EDIT: (7-6-25) Just added the wireframes and phone render to this image to illustrate that everything was rendered in studio.

What I saw at first glance is the uneven texture of the skin of the person photographed. Having the skin of the torso lighter and the mark of the shorts than that of the rest of the body makes the image very close to the real world. Bravo

Tue, Oct 22, 2024Thanks for the perspective, I really love reading critiques of my work, good or bad, I'm glad that in this case it's good! ;^)
Yeah, I guess I wanted to show their tan lines as that's what I use for most of my characters as a contrasted juxtaposition with their clothing and tan lines with their darkened skins, to give it a bit of dimension for the characters.
Thanks for the comment and award, it was quite unexpected, and very appreciated! :^)
