Don't respond unless you have no option but to confront it, ignore it and work on any remnants in private. Miserable people want you to feed into their psychological games and lower yourself to their level of pain, anger and lack of self worth. They don’t want understanding or any healthy resolve, they want problems and chaos because they thrive in it.
If you absolutely must deal with them, keep your emotions out of it! Keep it short with them and handle the remnants in private! They do not care for your emotions or your truth unless they can exploit it. Do not give them additional fuel to feed off of. You don’t have to suppress how you feel, just be aware that they simply aren’t in a normal space
Ignore their false accusations and ridicule, the phrase misery loves company tells it all. Miserable people will project their own self hate upon you so that they can abuse you into feeling as low as they do. They also spew false accusations because they know they are capable of doing devious , perverted and abusive things so they want to blame it on you first so you can take the fall for their poor behavior! Don’t allow it!
Remember who you are, take everything they say as a confession of what they’ve done or how they feel! They will try to lower your sense of self in order to use you as a scapegoat! Block out their outside noise and remind yourself who you are! Be strong centered person, let that be your shield for you will need it, against this form of extreme narcissistic behavior.

The term narcissism (from the ancient Greek Nárkissos, Latin Narcissus, German Narziss) is used in everyday psychology and colloquially in the broadest sense for the self-absorption and self-admiration of a person who considers themselves to be more important and valuable than judging observers characterize them.

Nevertheless, I still believe in the GOOD in a person and am inclined to accept him as he is, in all his vassals, his behavior, his dealings with others.

Thank you UdoK, there four type of narcissist, the worse version is a medical mental version of a narcissist called Malignant -
The fourth and final major type of narcissist is the malignant, or toxic, narcissist. They are highly manipulative and exploit others (typically for pleasure). These narcissists tend to display paranoia and antisocial traits not present in classic, vulnerable, or communal narcissists. They can be ruthless in their primary goal to control and dominate others. They are deceitful and aggressive. Worse yet, they lack remorse for their actions. It's also the only version that is recognized as incurable. Sadly this is the version I am dealing with for a close family member who suffered a cerebral vascular malformation 22 years ago and the damage done has morphed into extreme Malignant narcissism. This person has destroyed every relationship with friends and family and has withdrawn from normal civil life.
The image I created represents this person, alone in darkness, misery and despair. On the edge of doing the unthinkable........

Unfortunately, you can't predict where life will take you. You may not even realize it yourself, but when it affects people close to you, it is all the sadder to have to witness it.
For me, the pathologically inclined are one side, but far worse for me are the healthy ones who follow an idiology that only produces incomprehension, selfishness, hatred, discrimination and contempt for humanity.
Unfortunately, you can't predict where life will take you. You may not even realize it yourself, but when it affects people close to you, it is all the sadder to have to witness it.
For me, the pathologically inclined are one side, but far worse for me are the healthy ones who follow an idiology that only produces incomprehension, selfishness, hatred, discrimination and contempt for humanity.
