Duck Race At The River Spree
3D Render by maru_berlinHeinrich Heine (1797-1856) once wrote this in his poem "Nachtgedanken"/"Thoughts at Night"
Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht,
Dann bin ich um den Schlaf gebracht,
Ich kann nicht mehr die Augen schließen,
Und meine heißen Tränen fließen.
Should I think about Germany at night,
Then I can no longer sleep,
It's a sleeplessness I could not fight,
And with warm tears I begin to weep.
(I know, rhyming translations suck, but this is one of the better ones of that poem, by Joseph Massaad).
For those not familiar with recent political occurances in Germany, I'll try and keep this short: this sunday there is another ballot in one of Germany's 16 federal states: the third one this summer with a good chance of an extremistic right wing populistic party to gain a high number of votes, if not the majority.
And, as shortly in the US, I hope that everybody eligible to vote is excercising his/her fundamental and important right to vote, giving reason a voice.
History IS damned to repeat itself.

Hi Maru, thanks for this - you are 100% right!
If you want to protest, go and protest.
Anyone who votes for Nazis out of protest is a Nazi.
How I wish for the anti-fascist protective wall (antifaschistischer Schutzwall, DDR name of the wall that divided Germany) back ...

Wed, Sep 18, 2024No, you can't stop mental decay with a wall. The wall that divided Germany and was described as an anti-fascist protective wall had only the purpose of preventing East Germans from fleeing to West Germany. I know what I'm talking about, I was born a few days before the wall was built and am now much older than the wall was.

Wed, Sep 18, 2024Was meant as a kind of joke - but it's difficult to get deepL to be funny
Incidentally, I think that the anti-fascist protective wall is being misinterpreted: it wasn't meant to protect, but to ensure that anti-fascists like me didn't plant any strange ideas in the minds of people on the other side of the wall
Have a nice day

Germany doesn't need a protective wall that divides the country! We need protection for our thoughts that protects us from populism.
Both the Merkel government, which gave us the situation, and the Scholz government, which has to use unpopular means to make things better, are to blame for the whole misery and thus get the people's anger.
"Stupid people are dangerous when they are unite."
Think about it and do something with it.

And in France the "rassemblement national" (extreme ring wing) are stronger and stronger ! it's so sad. If I thought there was a god, I'd pray...but no, so I'm ready to fight against fascism.

Mon, Sep 23, 2024Luckily, in this duck race, the red duck won by a hairbreadth, and not only the yellow and the pink duck, but also the green duck got run over. And since the black duck lost a lot of its feathers, coalitions may become difficult. But looking at the choices, they all may well be leaden ducks.
