Deidre's car had broken down as she traveled between her parents' houses. She trudged up the dusty rutted track that had never been a road, looking for help.

At the end of the track, she found an odd house in the middle of a cemetery. She was met at the door by a most intriguing looking woman with dark hair.

Deidre was invited in. There was almost no light except a little on the balcony above the living room. The woman who introduced herself as Alanna lead her up to balcony.

After looking into her eyes for only a second, Deidre found that she felt a sense of rising panic.

And after another second, she turned, ran down the stairs, across the living room, out the front door, across the cemetery, back down the track and onward to her father's house.
