Rebecca was "on call".

At 5:15 AM, her pager indicated that she was needed. The location was miles from her parent's farm house.

She had chosen to visit even knowing that she might be called, leaving her vehicle just outside the front door.

She dressed as quietly as she could and, slipping out of the front door, spoke the command words so that her ship powered up.

Her parent's cat came to see what she was doing, climbing onto the porch as she climbed into the cockpit.

As she assumed the prone pilot's position the ship's AI closed the cockpit and it started the ascent.

Seconds later she was on her way.
